Location.
The double bed in my room was two single mattresses joined together with a type of sticky tape. It sunk severely in the middle and was grossly uncomfortable. Im a bloke that can handle a bit of discomfort but that was a joke. Staff at hotel just shrugged and smiled when I asked if anything could be done. Would not stay there again.

It is newly renovated place to stay, the food is appetising, and location is excellent to a service area. Very pleasant and accommodating staff as one would expect. The breakfast is tasty, we liked it.

pleasant foyer
The room (401) was located next to the lift and the noise of the doors opening/closing was clearly heard in the room. The shower would stop if the shower head was moved at a higher elevation (ie the pressure head was not sufficient). The telephone speed buttons did not work. We found we could not use the lift because it was being loaded with baggage from a coach party and we had to use the stairs from the foyer to our room on the 4th floor. The room had not been cleaned when we came back to the room at 14.30. We informed reception that this is not acceptable. A disappointing experience.

central access to te papa and beautiful parks nearby
I really loved the clean crisp white linen on a comfy bed and the easy walk to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, just a quick 1.5 km away overall making it ideal for my weekend exploring. Plus, the Wellington Botanic Garden is under almost 2 km that I enjoyed meandering through in the afternoon sun.

Good home base for discovering Wellington with very friendly and excellent staff like the waiter. Handy location in a nice enough area not far from an air extraction outlet, the main sights of Wellington, and eateries.

Good location within short walking distance into main centre yet aliitle out of the way, fairly quiet area. My room was clean and comfortable and at a good price. Would reccommend to family and friends.
Nothing really, had to request service for the bar every time you wanted a drink.

Location was good. Rooms were a little tired, lift was old and slow and the hotel was a little like a rabbit warren, but it was clean and comfortable and well priced. Most of the staff were excellent, the fellow on checkin wasn't particularly helpful or friendly but the other staff were very helpful.
Rooms were stuffy - a fan in the room would have been good. You could open the window, however it was noisy with the window open and really windy.

The bed was reasonably comfortable, while the bathroom had hairs in it.

Was looking for reasonable accommodation while going to WOW with my daughter. Needed twin share and few places showed that option when I was looking on line. The room was very sunny during the afternoon and although street facing was quiet during the night. Polite staff at reception. Functional room
Also wanted a place we could walk to town and to the show. The Mercure was further away from the main shopping centre for walking to and from regularly during our shopping time though we did manage it!.. On arrival from the airport I was a bit worried about the outside appearance as it looked tired and the reception area was too (carpet through the door for the staff was threadbare and made the area look a bit run down). The Dunedin Mercure hotels look more upmarket so I guess I was a bit surprised at its exterior and street entrance. It was a plain but clean room (though the toilet did have a 'smell' about it - stale urine we thought, which was improved by frequent spraying of my perfume - not a major though) and functional. W

handy location, clean rooms, good water pressure
Dated decor could use a refresh!!! Luggage space is severely lacking, leaving bags sprawled on the floor!!! An air conditioning upgrade would be ideal for warmer nights!!!
